Adriana
de Souza e Silva is a PhD candidate at the School
of Communications at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro
(UFRJ), Brazil. Since August 2001 she is a visiting scholar
at de department of Design | Media Arts at UCLA. Her research,
"Hybrid Space Nomads", studies the impact of nomadic
technology devices, like cell phones, in the organization of
urban space. Consequently, it deals with the hybridization of
physical and virtual spaces. Adriana has also interest in studying
how different languages and therefore different writings affect
the way we think and communicate. She holds a Master Degree
in Communication and Image Technology of the School of Communications
at UFRJ, Brazil, and a Bachelor in Journalism (Social Communication)
of the same School. Adriana has worked as a graphic designer,
web designer and has published papers in Brazilian and Ibero-American
Congresses of Communication and Digital Graphics (SIGraDi 2000,
2001, Compós 2001 and Intercom 2001).
